Pelvic floor dysfunction isn't just an adult issue. Adolescence is a time of rapid change, and symptoms are often dismissed as "normal growing pains." If your teenager is experiencing any of the following, pelvic physical therapy can help:

  • Painful Periods (Dysmenorrhea): Teens experiencing severe cramping, lower back pain, or pelvic pain before or during their menstrual cycle that causes them to miss school, sports, or social activities.

  • Pelvic Pain & Discomfort (Dyspareunia): Pain or sharp discomfort with tampon insertion, gynecological exams, or any deep pelvic pressure.

  • Bladder Irritation: Frequent or urgent bathroom trips, leaking during exercise or laughing, or difficulty fully emptying the bladder.

  • Bowel Discomfort: Chronic constipation, straining, or abdominal pain related to bowel movements.

  • Athletes & Active Teens: High-impact athletes experiencing pelvic pressure, leaking, or deep hip and groin pain during training.

My Approach to Adolescent Pelvic Health Care

Navigating a pelvic health issue as a teenager can feel intimidating and deeply personal. At Resilience Physical Therapy, my goal is to transform what can be an overwhelming experience into an opportunity for growth, body confidence, and lasting health independence.

Here is the framework of how I support your family:

  • Patient-Led Care & Autonomy: I honor the relationship between parent and child. We move strictly at your teenager's comfort level, utilizing formal parental consent and voluntary adolescent assent. Your teen is always in complete control of the pacing and boundaries of their care.

  • Tailored, Functional Movement: Treatment is completely customized to the individual. We use specialized, comfortable movement, stretching, and targeted conditioning to restore pain-free function and optimize pelvic health.

  • Whole-Person Wellness: Pelvic health doesn't happen in isolation. We look at the big picture—supporting foundational habits like sleep, hydration, nutrition, and stress management to maximize your teen's natural healing capacity.

  • An Unrushed, No-Pressure Environment: All options are presented transparently, allowing your family the space to process and choose details of your care collaboratively. Plans are highly flexible and can be adjusted at any time.
